The DiaCon Alley Snack Meet-Up
To Snack or Not to Snack...
5th-May-2011 07:05 pm
Holiday Default
A few people have expressed interest in having a Snape/Sirius meet-up at DiaCon Alley. Given that I'm a little bit of a fan of the pairing myself (::cough:: bwahaha!), I thought I'd go ahead and set up this comm and see how many others might be on board.

So! If you're a Snack shipper who's attending DiaCon Alley, go ahead and join the comm here. If there seems to be enough interest, we'll see if we can plan something fun, eh?

Whaaaa! I would be there if I weren't stuck here in California...

Aw, that sucks. And tell me about it, ugh. I really can't afford this trip, but I'm just NOT going to miss DiaCon. ;)

I'm not going, of course, but if you are thinking of doing goody bags, I can see about cooking up some buttons. (Since I am a one-trick pony.)

Wheee, that'd be awesome! \o/

It'll be a small group, I imagine, so we'd only need a few. Unless you just want to make some extras to pimp the ship. LOL

Heeeeeey, question... I was going to look into having buttons made for a variety of things... I wonder if I could sorta "commission" you to do them. Pay for the materials plus give you some extra for your time?

That's probably doable. I invested in a real buttonmaker and a circle cutter earlier this year so it only takes me a couple of minutes per button, aside from the time fitting art/letters into the template (which is one of those tasks that tends to expand to fill available time, especially if the buttons are all different from one another). The metal parts cost 21 cents per button at the bulk I bought them in and then there's the ink and paper, so say 25 cents a button for materials. I've got about 150 part sets available, I think, 2 1/4" size only. Art needs to be fairly large, around 1000 pixels square, although depending on the art, they can actually be enlarged quite a bit more than would normally be possible because of the small print size of the finished product.

Hmm, awesome. I will ponder things and get back to you. :D But at any rate, yes, something for the meetup would be lovely! ♥

Say, 10-15 buttons maybe? Any idea what the overall attendance of the con is expected to be? Although I was very surprised when I made only hmm, 20? for the Sev/Lily meetup at Azkatraz and 36-40 people showed up.

Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable number. I expect the meet-up to be small, and even if extra random people show up, the ones who sign up in advance to attend with get preference on goodies over those who don't.

I just asked one of the folks in charge -- expected attendance is roughly 150. Very fandom-focused as opposed to the multi-interest cons with all the wizard rock and such.

Is there anything particular you would like the buttons to say? For the Sev/Lily ones for Azkatraz I just put "Severus/Lily @ Azkatraz 2009" at the bottom (see here), but there's room to put an arc of text at the top too (like the gen Snape buttons I've been giving out).

(True to overabundant form I am currently looking at 34 different pieces of art to whittle down from and ask permission for. I may have some more at home that aren't represented in my dA favourites or LJ/IJ mems.)

Oh, hey, they're your contribution, so make whatever you like! Simple and straight-forward is great. Goofy, punny slogans are great too. Whatever blows your hair back. ;P

God that commercial disturbs me. I never can figure out why the husband is so excited his wife got all these vibrators. If it's "yay, now I don't need to bother having sex with you!" that does not bode well for their marriage.

AHAHAHA!

"Once Snape goes Black, he won't go back." ?? ;P
